Tastes

Interestingnose, pineapples and pickles. Oak as well. Can a whiskey be creamy and thin at the same time? Thick mouthfeel but mild up front. Catches up towards the end, with spice and slight char. Appropriately sweet, but increasingly dry on the finish. Tingle in the throat lingers. 6/7/18

Herbs and apples on the nose. Some alcohol sting. Very spicy up front, then nutmeg and marshmallows. Some furniture polish. If you like spicy and sweet, this is a winner. Lingering cinnamon gum and pecan nibs. Nice. 6/7/18

The nose has cloves and pastrami on rye, along with brown sugar and rubber tires. There's a sting appropriate for the proof. On the palate, an odd rubbery, plasticky note initially. Then loads of spice and a bit of toasted marshmallow. Leather, baking spice and slight bitterness linger. Good, but pales in comparison to some of the other Booker's batches. 6/6/18

Nice nose, fruit and honey. On the palate, bitterness up front, sweet fruit and a bit of astringent oak. Some vanilla. Feels creamy. Cacao nibs lingers for a bit. 6/2/18

Very vibrant, fruity nose. Smooth on the palate, with herbal and floral notes. Maybe some dough if you tilt your head a bit. Finishes slightly bitter. 5/28/18

Vanilla, must, and juicy fruit on the nose. Carries over onto the palate, with some spice and leather. Finish lingers with spice for a bit then seems to completely disappear. 5/28/18

Spearmint on the nose, and soap. Interesting palate... minty, with nutmeg, other baking spices, orange zest, some cedar, leather, and cola. Ends with pleasant bitterness. This is complex, and smooth for the proof, almost no hug. Niiiiiice. 5/27/18

Batch 179, 5/4/16. Interesting nose, sweet and herbal, minty maybe. Interesting palate as well. Earthy, herbal. but also sweet. Deep flavors. Mint lingers on the tongue. Medium finish. 5/27/18

Simply put, smells good. Fruit, wood, slight malt, brine, honey. Peat forward on the palate, but not overwhelming. Slightly sharp, malty, salt, slight fruit. Not as smooth as the 17, but the character is the same. If you like Scotch, don't sleep on this Japanese offering. 5/27/18
