Batch 5. Smells great. Palate is hot, but a burst of flavor as well. Class bourbon. Warm Kentucky hug. 9/6/20
  2. Stings the nose. Otherwise light. Some sweetness. Hard to judge this. Hot with some spice. Seems a bit too nuanced otherwise. Need to come back to this. 9/6/20

Batch 24. Good nose. Fresh. Nose translates to palate. For some reason I was expecting odd flavors here, but this is straightforward, but not in a bad way. It works. 9/6/20

Potpourri of spices on the nose, very rich nose. Some fruit and dank barrel wood also. Unique on the palate... a rush of fruit and spice. Warmth lasts. Pleasant sweetness. 9/6/20

Fresh nose, light. Linens. Opens up, some wood, sour honey, maybe a hint of dill. Also pencil lead and car tires. One the palate, this is good old man bourbon. Leather. Some baked bread. Nice spice. Cocoa nibs. Bitterness lingers but it's not too strong. 9/6/20

Nose seems a bit chemical, musty wood. Opens up a bit, with some brown sugar notes. On the palate... way smoother than I expected for the proof. Almost seems flat. Some turpentine and pepper. A pleasant spice. Looong finish. Seems like something that will open up after more time. 9/6/20

Hungarian Fair, Joe's Playlist #1 finished in a Tokaji barrel. The nose is sweet and rich, hints of dessert wine. I've never had Tokay wine, but I read that Tokaji is like sweet white wine. After a few minutes, more fruit, maybe a hint of rubber, strong maple syrup. On the palate, this is thick initially, but then it seems to dissipate. Clove, some cacao nibs, salt, underlying sweetness, and nutty towards the end, some bitter walnut. The spice is gone quickly, this has a short finish, but the warmth in the chest lasts. That's the most prominent feature of this whiskey, it's not as hot on the tongue as you would expect it to be, but gives a nice Kentucky hug. This is straightforward, a pleasant sipper. 7/7/2020
