Tastes

Sour oak and caramel candy. All around a good flavor profile albeit a little simple. Has some heat but it disguises itself as a flavor note. It initially reminds me of Old Crow, at its base, but turns it up a few notches with additional flavor and proof. A solid pour.

Smells and tastes like a chocolate brownie with some aged rum in the batter. There's some really ripe banana notes and prune juice flavors also. The proof is alive and well through the whole experience. I like it but a bottle will last me awhile.

Classic Irish whiskey character turned up to a 10. Comes in a good proof and non-chill filtered. Simple styled bottle with a loose cork.

I did a side by side of this and Old Forester Statesman. They have some similarities on the nose but the Michter's is softer and sweeter in flavor. More orchard fruit than berries and the finish is longer. Michter's makes some really good whiskey.

A good bourbon no doubt. Red popsicle and berry hit you first, then a little bubble gum. Some leather and oak on the palate. It's balanced very well. The finish is quite short but refreshing as if you spit out a good piece of gum. Worth keeping a bottle on the shelf for a different experience.

Other than it's youthfulness there's not much to dislike here. Has fruit, wood and some peanut shell. It has enough complexity to make you come back.

Imagine Blanton's made with a sour mash profile. Ethanol hits the nose but carries some enjoyable flavors with it. Very enjoyable wood notes, slight tobacco.

Jura 10 has some unique flavors of burnt orange peel and burnt caramel. Fairly common scotch on the nose with some floral highlights if you put your nose in deep. There is a slight wood funk that I've found in some rums, particular Appelton 12 year and ironically they use the same style of bottle. It is well balanced for what it is.

Very cherry, vanilla, some white pepper. I really wanted to like this but it's more simple than regular small batch with more ethynol heat. 2023 version. Will use as a mixer.
