Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 25, 2021 (edited March 16, 2021)Honestly, smooth but average in every other aspect. Glad I didn’t buy a bottle and sampled at a bar. -
Balvenie The Sweet Toast of American Oak 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 2, 2021Obviously very oak forward, very vanilla heavy on the palate. Not bad but not something I’d go out of my way to find. In a weird way reminds me of bourbon — not in a bad way, but the fruit flavors here are more than I really like. -
Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 28, 2020 (edited March 20, 2021)A bit more sherry forward than I was expecting, and less of the smokiness I was expecting, but this has some wonderful sea salt notes that I enjoyed with the Old Pulteney 12 -
Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed December 20, 2020 (edited December 26, 2020)Lightly peated, would benefit from more. Overall easy sipper, one-note. -
Muckety-Muck Single Grain 24 Year
Single Grain — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 20, 2020 (edited December 2, 2021)Nose: vanilla, light wood, medium-low intensity, cream Taste: similar to the nose — a bit flat as far as intensity for a 24 year, wish it had a little more body to it. Caramel notes hidden throughout. Not bad at all, but overpriced. -
Little Book Chapter 4: Lessons Honored
Blended American Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 9, 2020 (edited November 27, 2020)That’s about the hottest glass of whiskey I’ve had, warm brown sugar, intensity reminds me of 4 roses single batch, almost tastes like cake. This is solid.
