Journeyman Distillery Corsets, Whips and Whiskey [Revolution Brewing Deth's Tar Finished, 2023]
Wheat Whiskey — Michigan, USA
Reviewed June 25, 2023 (edited June 26, 2023)Took a trip to Journeyman to pick up this annual release on release day 2023. This version is finished in Revolution Brewing’s Deth’s Tar barrels. Nose on this was high octane at first, but seemed to settle down some with time. First sip was HOT! But again, things improved with time. Either that or my senses went numb. I get a nice chocolate cherry flavor on the palate, fairly thin mouthfeel, and a medium length, warm, dry oak finish. Very satisfying pour, quite different from the standard expression of this whiskey, which is very good as well.125.0 USD per BottleJourneyman Distillery -
'Grapefruit Spritz' 2022, 113.9 Proof. Purchased in May of 2022, during our KBT trip. Love this distillery. Routinely some of my favorite pours. This expression is another winner, though a bit different. Has a grassy, herbaceous nose, and is a bit stinging on the tongue. Flavors are similar to the nose. Hoping things evolve as this opens up over time, but still worthy of a spot on the shelf.124.0 USD per BottleKentucky Peerless Distilling Co

I don't see this often in our area, so I was surprised when it showed up on the shelf of a local grocery store. Got around to trying it at a rye tasting event last winter, and it didn't disappoint. Excellent nose and mouthfeel, with a bit of a cinnamon burn to finish things up. Great to sip or mix in a cocktail.35.0 USD per BottleMartin's Super Market

William Dalton Wheated Bourbon
Wheat Whiskey — West Baden Springs, IN, USA
Reviewed June 6, 2023 (edited June 13, 2023)Purchased 5/27/23 during our Louisville KBT trip. Got to try this at the liquor store. Pretty good, and thought Laurie might like it since it’s a wheater! First taste out of the bottle confirmed my previous thoughts. Very sweet on the nose, and a nice richness on the palate. Classic flavors, and a pleasant finish. May need to look into some of their other expressions!54.99 USD per BottleThe Ridge Liquors -
Calumet Farm 15 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 6, 2023 (edited June 25, 2023)Very oak forward. Still get some classic flavors, but the oak presence dominates. Warming, spicy finish. A nice pour, think I prefer the Cal 14 to this release. Purchased 5/27/23 during our Louisville KBT trip149.99 USD per BottleThe Ridge Liquors
