Old Bardstown Estate Bourbon 101 Proof
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 20, 2023 (edited April 9, 2024)Sweetness on the nose that transfers to the palate. Smooth, viscous mouthfeel, followed by a lingering cinnamon finish. One of our KBT purchases. Don’t remember this one being this good at our tasting, but then again, we did buy a bottle! Really good sip, anxious to have this one again.30.0 USD per BottleWillett Distillery -
Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 16, 2023 (edited June 13, 2023)City-Wide Liquors store pick, Warehouse Q, Floor 06, Rick 08 Barreled: 10/9/2012, Selected: 11/7/2022, Proof: 120 Ran across this store pick, and decided to finally add a Knob Creek expression to the collection. Their single barrels seem to be well reviewed, and the price was right. These consistently beat out more expensive bourbon's, and actually swayed me from buying a Baker's 7 bottle! Sweetness on the nose, and a caramel, sugary vanilla palate. Medium length, spicy, numbing finish. Drinks it's proof, but doesn't become overwhelming. Nelson Brothers Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 10, 2023 (edited October 5, 2023)Ethanol on the nose and palate. Classic bourbon notes are here too, but seem muted, dull. Thin mouthfeel and an unremarkable finish. Purchased this bottle based on a WhiskeyTube review, so I was expecting a better experience. Maybe it’s the ‘neck pour’ syndrome! Hopefully it improves with time.58.0 USD per BottleMartin's Super Market -
Yellowstone Hand Picked Collection Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 2, 2023 (edited April 18, 2023)2/1/23 - Sam’s Special Edition, Single Barrel #7850848, 115 Proof Nose is sweet, typical bourbon, but also has a fairly prominent alcohol presence as well. Not enough to be off-putting though. Sweetness continues on the palate, and turns into a tongue-numbing cinnamon red hot as things finish up. No ethanol this time around, and the flavors in this bottle seem more rich and full. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy, and coats well. Still get the cinnamon in the finish, but it's less numbing and feels more balanced. Very solid bottle! 3/4/23 - Came across this again this weekend, apparently on clearance, @ $26 each! Couldn't pass it up in that price range, so I picked up two!43.0 USD per BottleSam's Club -
Maker's Mark Private Selection Panna Cotta
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed January 31, 2023 (edited March 6, 2023)Picked this up at the distillery following our tour. Slight ethanol on the nose, along with the classic Maker's aromas. Oak presence on the palate, and a nice medium mouthfeel. Ethanol returns during the numbing finish. Decent, but hoping the ethanol mellows a bit with time.Maker's Mark Distillery -
Widow Jane 10 Year Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed January 3, 2023 (edited February 20, 2023)Sweet, grain on the nose. Grain continues on the palate. Light, thin feel. Medium length warming finish. Seemed to get a little more flavorful with additional sips. May improve with time, but a little disappointed in this bottle so far. Not bad, just underwhelming. Purchased: 10/2022 - Batch #648, Bottle #1242. Second visit with this bottle went just like the first. Not much going on here for me. Probably finish this one up in cocktails.80.0 USD per BottleBelmont Beverage of Mishawaka -
Old 55 Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed January 3, 2023 (edited January 30, 2023)Came across this at my local liquor store, and having previously enjoyed Old 55's bottled-in-bond expression, was excited to give this a try. Very dark color to this bourbon. Nose presents classic notes of caramel, vanilla and sugary sweetness. Nice oily, viscous feel on the palate. Sweetness continues, along with a medium warming sensation. Finish is fairly long, with a numbing spicy cinnamon note. More rich and satisfying with each sip. Very enjoyable whiskey! Purchased 10/2022 - Batch #18F2, Bottle #49, 113.6 Proof.89.0 USD per BottleBelmont Beverage of Mishawaka -
Wilderness Trail 6 Year Bottled in Bond Bourbon (High Rye Bourbon)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed January 3, 2023 (edited May 21, 2023)5/12/2023 - Opened this KBT purchase to celebrate Laurie announcing her retirement! What a great choice; very nice sipper with a great nose, flavorful palate and mellow warming finish. Looking forward to re-visiting this one again soon.Wilderness Trail Distillery -
Picked this bottle up on our KBT trip back in May. Decided to pop it open on New Year’s eve, and was quite pleasantly surprised. Nothing out of the ordinary on the nose, fairly muted classic bourbon notes. Influence of the Bloody Butcher Corn is apparent on the palate, but fairly typical bourbon flavors otherwise. Short to medium finish. In my opinion, this is a good sipper. Not the best, but far from the worst. Interested to see how this bottle evolves during my time with it.45.0 USD per BottleJeptha Creed Distillery
