Really nice bourbon for how young it is. It hits that happy medium of smooth and burn, uses its proof well. Pretty oaky with a bit of fruit, maybe toffee/caramel. A brown sugar note in there as well. Finish is really nice. Nothing too heavy but lingers a good amount. Went toe to toe with colonel e h taylor small batch and was a pretty close call so thats a pretty good rec based on that

Weller is pretty good but it’s not worth the markup in my opinion. Nose isnt too special. Nice and sweet. Its very smooth in the mouth with no real burn. Can really swish it around without being overwhelmed. Does have some nice flavor tho, sorta nutty maybe. Hits the top of my mouth in a nice way. Tasted this in a blind test with woodford and it was like woodford in that it wasnt strong and was very smooth, but had more flavors happening than woodford

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 19, 2023 (edited November 27, 2023)Nose is great, i get leather, baking spices, a tiny bit of berry cobbler, walnut. It’s definitely a fiery whiskey which come from the proof. Tingles and heat on the first sip but mellows a bit on the next ones. Hard to pick up notes with the higher proof, but generally the same profile the nose gives. Finish lingers in a pleasant warming way and sits with you for a few minutes. As my first foray into barrel proof, i enjoy it (maybe not enough to justify the price tho) and will likely grow on me over time but the heat is a bit much for me to really make it a true fav.95.0 USD per Bottle
