I liked this expression better than the stout, which I thought came out flat and I am a huge fan of Guinness, Beamish, & Murphy's. The hop presence did not blow my face out (like most piss-poorly crafted IPAs) and left enough of the Jameson notes for you to appreciate this offering. It fairs really well on my price point vs. complexity scale as it is very reasonable at ~$23.99/750ml. I am also a huge fan of well balanced American, Double, and Traditional (British) IPAs. This will not disappoint you if crossing over from beer to whiskey. Yes, I am a homebrewer and have been one for 26 years and counting...

Straight Edge Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee and Kentucky (Finished and Bottled in California), USA
Reviewed July 30, 2018I bought this one at Costco on a "Buy one, Get one free" promotion at $44.95/750ml. After reading the bio on it, I expected something special. When I opened it up it had a great nose. I poured a couple of knuckles of it over an ice ball and let it sit for a minute. On my price point vs. complexity scale it came in high due to its reduced price ($22.475/750ml). It had a good taste and likability. However, when compared to other $45/750ml bourbons it comes in as average. Not bad, just nothing there to grab you concerning taste. My recommendation is wait for it to go on sale then get a bottle and it will suit you fine. -
Being "twice barreled" I was expecting some level of complexity. However, I was disappointed to say the least and at $34.99/750ml it was an even greater disappointment. I tried it both neat and with an ice chip. Neither did much. I really wanted to like this bourbon. I will give it another chance along with a splash of water. If I have a better experience I will update my review.

Batch Number 03 - First, I am a Bulleit fan so my review could be a "tad" skewed here. This is Bulleit on 'roids concerning everything (color, flavor, notes, and horsepower (proof)). However, it really makes a statement as it does not finish with a burn for its high proof (120+) . I really enjoyed this both neat and with an ice chip. I have batches 02 and 05 yet to try...

Okay, I know bourbon is a "personal choice" and people have really liked this one. However, I was expecting more complexity with this one being as it is old enough to get its Learner's Permit to drive. It came in with the expected oak notes, but it was missing something else to give it a real robustness I look for with a very well aged bourbon. I guess it is just not my personal taste which is okay. "To each one their own," I say. You might like it.

A very nice bourbon for the price point vs. complexity for sure. I really enjoyed this one both neat and with an ice chip. Nice flavors that do not get lost in the "heat" of being 100 Proof and finishes well. It stands up to the task. This is a fine representative for the Sazerac Family of bourbons.

Well, this one does not disappoints. It has all the horsepower (100 Proof) and the smoothness (90% Corn "squeezing's") at a very cheap price (<$15/750ml). I drank it neat and with an ice chip and it really did not change all that much in flavor profile. I would rank this one step above white lighting as it was aged in barrels. It will get you there in some fashion, just not "high" fashion. It was fun trying it once just to say, "I did it!"

Wow, what a nice Irish Whiskey for the price (~$21.99/750ml). It scores high on my price point vs. complexity scale as it give you a very nice flavor profile for its cheap price. I consider "cheap" anything under $26/750ml. This is a sliding scale as liquor prices have increased over the past few year. If you like a neat little Irish Whiskey on a budget I really recommend this one. Hell, even if you are not on a budget, try it. As with anything it is a personal choice and if you do not like it, you did not spend a lot of your hard earned cash on a whim.

As with Bib & Tucker, this was another disappointment as it came in flat on my price point vs. complexity scale. I was expecting something interesting and received next to nothing, like a lot of blind dates. Really not much I can say about this bourbon, except at least you can find it under $40/750ml. Oh one nice thing, interesting label.
