Nose: The nose seamed a little uneasy for what I would expect for a high proof pour and light. Hint of nuts.
Pallet: Well rounded but not as complex as say the WF batch proof but close to a 1/3 of the cost and much more available. Hints of caramel that ends in a nice spice.
Finish: There’s a diffident heat but not a high proof sting that lesser bourbons would offer.
Overall the 1792 is a little unrefined compared to other, however for the price and it’s availability it’s surprisingly well balanced. I can see why some of my serious bourbon friends always have this available and it comes highly recommended.
Bottle need a little time to breathe in my opinion so I’m looking forward to the second pour in a few weeks.
