A & G Michigan Gin Reserve
Distilled Gin
A & G // Michigan, USA
A & G distillery is the spirit making wing of Paw Paw, Michigan’s St. Julian winery.
This is Michigan’s oldest commercial vineyard, so it comes as no surprise that grapes are used as the base for the spirit that creates this gin as well as their vodka and brandy. Besides this unlikely base, the gin seems to follow a traditional London Dry flavor profile with seven classic botanicals.

Tasting Notes
"As advertised, this is a gin that focuses on a classic botanical blend and shows notes of piney juniper, sweet anise, and fresh citrus. Unfortunately these flavors are a bit muted and the base spirit has quite an assertive unaged brandy or eau-de-vie character that distracts from the botanical flavor. Furthermore, whereas the distillate is obviously well crafted, the 40% ABV does it no favors and comes across as being a bit overly dilute. Perhaps best enjoyed in tonic, or as a recommendation to drinkers who find most gins overly medicinal."
