Afrohead XO Rum
Dark Rum
Afrohead // Bahamas
Afrohead began as a rum blended by Toby Tyler for usage at The Landing Guest House in Harbour Island, Bahamas. Now, a cross-Caribbean collaboration has brought it to retail distribution, including landfall in the United States.
The molasses comes from the Dominican Republic, the yeast, a proprietary strand from Angostura, where it's distilled, in Trinidad & Tobago. After distillation and blending, the rum is aged in used bourbon barrels, and is bottled in Barbados.

Dark RumAKA Black Rum. Usually aged (but not always) and has additional caramel-coloring added to provide the dark/black color. Some are distilled from blackstrap molasses. No specific type or size barrel required for aging nor is there a set time required for aging in most countries with a few exceptions.

Tasting Notes
"Dominant notes of vanilla and caramel on the nose, the char of the bourbon barrel really making its presence felt here. Smooth sipping, with oak, more vanilla, maple syrup, and brown sugar, with a touch of spice, coming through and lingering through a long, warm finish. Add ice and enjoy a more mellow sip, with the oaky, woody characteristics coming more to the forefront. Don't mix this one."
