Amrut Fusion X

First pour and I'm not having a great tasting day (wish I'd know that before I opened this). Nose - You get that classic amrut somewhat burnt soil and earth with light peated notes. Juicy and rich fruits, super sweet px, and you all nailed it on the honey notes. Taste - Oak, baked earth, light spices, light earth forward peat, rich artificial candied fruits, charcoal, honey. Medium long finish. I'll have to come back to this one and dig more into it. Overall this is just an epic example of a px sherry bomb. Complexity out of control on the finish. I do have to say...50% is a bit light on this one. I wish this was full CS. I rarely ever feel 50 is light but here, full CS would have given us a legit 5 star whisky.

Beautiful balance of peat, Sherry, honey, and tropical fruits. Nose: Orange, Honey, Smoke, Raisins, Sultanas, Cherries, Dates, Figs, Pineapples, Almonds, Jaffa Cakes, Strawberries, Raspberries, Mangoes, Passion Fruit Palate: Honey, Oranges, Raisins, Smoke, Dates, Plums, Toffee, Milk Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Almonds Finish: Raisins, Bananas, Honey, Sultanas, Raspberries, Luxardo Cherries Different world from the regular fusion, regular fusion I found too smoky for me but then again tried the regular fusion a few years ago in my early whisky days.

Fusion was the gateway dram for many Indian single malt fans, so this 10th anniversary celebration of the brand has a lot to live up to. Matured for four additional years in PX-Sherry butts, it doesn’t disappoint. Aromas of gingerbread and clove set the stage for an oily mouthful of ginger spice, orange oil and preserved Seville orange rind. The finish is tangy and herbal, with dashes of chocolate nibs and coffee. It’s a shame it’s so pricey, but if you split one of the 1,010 bottles with a couple of friends you won’t regret the expense, especially if you get to keep the fancy porcelain container.
