Angel's Envy Rye Finished in Caribbean Rum Casks

Finished in rum barrels. Spicy start with the rye, smooth maple finish. Good gift??

I'm a big fan of AE's other offerings so I really wanted to like this. Unfortunately I can't seem to get there. On first taste it really overwhelmed me with molasses and burnt brown sugar flavors, so much so I couldn't taste the bourbon. It finishes with a nice rye spice kick. But nothing in between. I'll give it another shot hoping my taste buds were off.

Great rye. But too damn expensive for what it is. $30 more than the excellent burbon? No w a y. If it were closer to it it would be 93/100 as is can't justify the price.

Very sweet. Sugar taste from rum barrel finish really comes through. Maple syrup and brown sugar notes. More of a dessert drink.
