Lovely and strong. A great and powerful ardbeg! Excels with a few drops of water to bring down the 57%.
Nose: sweet cherry, apples, and vanilla.
Palate: spicy, pepper, smoke smoke, and a nice sweet.
Finish: longgggg and smokey and spicy.
*Having this as a lateral next to Laphroaig 10 cask strength*
Nose: immense brine and salt, a hint of charcoal.
Palate: it's a bit hot. Seaweed, brine, and ham mild citrus on the edges of the mouth. Brown sugar and molasses.
Finish: salinity, malt chewiness, full. Mild retronasal
Rich and dense. Definitely getting a strong pepper note out of this both on palate and the nose, along with smoked bacon and some sea air on the nose. Theres some deep, dark notes to it as well getting a hint of bitter chocolate. Theres some woody bitterness as well. Balanced well between sweet and smoky. A subtle sweetness emerges as you keep sipping. A nice peaty smoky punch throughout. Ham and some honey on the palate. Adding a few drops of water brings out some fruit notes on the nose, mainly a red apple, definitely accents the honey note on the palate. Clears the smoke a bit to give you the brighter side of the whisky, but also brings in a pronounced wood note along with ash and tobacco
