Balvenie 16 Year French Oak Pineau Cask Finish
This single malt from Balvenie is initially matured in traditional American oak casks. Then it's finished in French oak casks which previously held Pineau des Charentes bringing the total aging overall to 16 years.
Pineau, as it is often called, is a French fortified wine made from unfermented grape juice and Cognac eaux-de-vie before aging in French oak. Released in the US in late July 2022, Balvenie French Oak Pineau Cask Finish is a permanent addition to the brand's Cask Finishes Range.

Tasting Notes
"The nose is a mix of tart plum, cinnamon, nutmeg, sandalwood, and a faint springy note akin to freshly cut parsley. The palate takes on richer notes of toffee, honey, and cashews, with more of that tart plum presence. There's a slightly funky quality that's similar to that of an estery rum, cutting through the midpalate, mixing with more tart fruits. The finish is spicy and warm with a slight tartness. "
