For Discovery Series #11, Bardstown Bourbon Co. blended three different Kentucky straight bourbon whiskies together, each with a different mash bill. The bulk (73%) of the blend was aged 13 years followed by a 10 year (21%) and a 6 year bourbon (6%) which was distilled at BBCo. Unconventionally, that 6 year bourbon was matured exclusively in French oak barrels.
This release marks the first Discovery Series bottling to include a bourbon that was estate-distilled at BBCo. Around 3,000 9L cases will be available through the Bardstown Bourbon Co. gift shop, at retailers in 24 states and online beginning October 6, 2023. (SRP $139.

Tasting Notes
"There's a bit of a fruit and nut nose along with some light vanilla and caramel. Additional nosings bring forth some dried grass and chocolate. The bourbon has a medium plus body and a bittersweet flavor. At nearly 120 proof, the bourbon is a bit hot and tight with chewy tannins and the French oak provides for a less sweet bourbon profile. Adding a splash of water brings those herbal notes to the fore and smooths out the rough edges. Fans of bourbons that aren't dessert-style or finished in a wine barrel will be pleased."
