Beenleigh is Australia's oldest distillery, and a proud Queensland product. Made with molasses from Rocky Point sugar mill (15 km away from the distillery), vatted in ex-brandy vats and then matured in ex-bourbon barrels, Beenleigh is an Australian Icon in the rum world, with the 5 year old taking out various awards. Currently, this is only available in Australia.
Aged RumRum that is aged, but no specific type or size barrel required. No set time required for length of aging, but will often carry an age statement (which should be taken with a grain of salt). Often thought of as "sipping rums".
Cask Typeex-brandy vats and ex-bourbon barrels
"Incredible vanilla with spiced wood starts the rum, with a coconut molasses stretch at the end that showcases what the rum has to offer. Fruit toast lightly dusted with spices creep in, a warming breakfast appeal. On the palate, these spices turn the rum warm, with vanilla bean making a return alongside the same coconut molasses seen earlier. A somewhat delicate and creamy mouth feel, with the woody notes softened just enough by the brandy vatting and bourbon maturation."
