Beenleigh Port Barrel Infused Rum
Aged Rum
Beenleigh // Queensland, Australia
Beenleigh’s Port-Barrel Infused Rum is a limited edition line from the Australian Icon, with the release simply a chance to offer the public something outside the box and tap an untapped market. Aged for seven years, the rum spent the first five of those years in American oak barrels and the final two in ex-port barrels.
Using the same local molasses from Rocky Point Sugar Mill that Beenleigh uses in all their products, the Port Barrel may at one time become a fixture product for the Beenleigh line. Note: Availability limited to Australia in 700ml sized bottles.

Tasting Notes
"Wood, vanilla and harsh dark plums make-up the nose of this rum. A haze of rich fruits wavers before the nose, before being over taken by floral oak resin and acetone. The palate is mostly a harsh tang, with light fruit notes of plum and cherry showing the port influence we have been waiting for. The drink carries incredibly dry, rich tones, turning tart as it sits on the tongue. The finish is long and with a prickly mouth feel. All in all, the tastes of port, rum and American oak simply strike against another as opposed to working in harmony."
