Belle Meade Bourbon Sherry Cask Finish

There is well-maintained heat here that you wouldn’t expect at this proof level. I had to check a couple times to ensure that it really is only 90 proof. The finish persists throughout and adds a nice perplexity, but I would like just a bit more sweetness.

Berries, chocolate, and sweet red wine dominate the aroma. Flavor is oak, aged port, and dark berries, with a hint of alcohol.

I like this one more than the Madeira finished more fruit and sherry less oak.

Maybe the bottle had been open too long or something, but the only note I got in this was vodka flavored by powdered mesquite bbq chips. Worst pour I’ve had all year.
