Reviewed December 13, 2021 (edited January 27, 2022)Just a really pleasant bourbon. This took me by surprise. Tasted this after the bartender recommended it. It’s sweet cherry pie in a glass. Some subtle oak, cinnamon, rye spice, caramel. Overall it’s just a nice bourbon and the perfect proof. A bit expensive though but I’d drink it again. -

Reviewed December 11, 2021 (edited January 1, 2022)I had this side-by-side in Glen Cairn glasses with Elijah Craig Barrel Proof (Batch A121, 124 proof), and I did my best to dilute both to the same ABV (albeit subjectively by mouth feel and sensation of heat on my palate) to standardize the comparison. Much to my surprise, they were absolutely identical in terms of their aromatics, flavors (spice profile), and mouth-feel. The only difference that I could discern between the two was that the Belle Meade was a little sweeter. To sum it up, since they are both the same price in my area ($69.99, in SE Michigan), the winner of the matchup could go either way: On one hand the the higher proof of the ECBP makes it a better value, but only if you plan to add water. On the other hand, the Belle Meade is more available year-round, making it an advantage if you plan to drink a lot of it! -

Reviewed November 11, 2021 (edited January 30, 2022)Caramel, orange peel, peanut butter, pipe tobacco, something slightly herbal and savory, a little smoke on the nose. It all carries over to the palate with some nice rye spice. Good MGP high-rye bourbon. I’ve seen this priced anywhere from 50 to 75. Seems like a decent deal at 50, although when I can get Four Roses Single Barrel under 40, I’m not sure I’m a frequent buyer even at 50. Also prefer Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel at the same price.
