Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin
Bobby's // Netherlands
Bobby's Schiedam Dry Gin is an interpretation of creator Sebastiaan's grandfather, Bobby's homemade gin. Born in Indonesia, Bobby immigrated to the Netherlands in the 1950's, but longed for a spirit with the taste of home. So, he began infusing Dutch jenever with Indonesian herbs, thus creating his own gin. In 2012, Sebastiaan traveled to Holland to meet master distiller of Herman Jansen. Together, they created today's version of Bobby's recipe using Indonesian botanicals such as lemongrass, cloves, coriander, cubeb pepper and cinnamon.
Modern GinAlso has been referred to as "Contemporary", "New Western", "New Wave", and "New American". This style is not legally defined. In general, this category of gin, while it does contain juniper, places less of an emphasis on this botanical. Other botanicals not classically used in London Dry gins are often utilized and often highlight botanicals grown in the region the gin is produced. Most produced as either London Dry or Distilled Gins.
"Dominant aroma of lemongrass, giving it a fresh and inviting character. Plenty of coriander too, with hints of juniper in the background and a whisper of cinnamon. The palate is quite sweet, although the lemongrass is still omnipresent. Again, cinnamon plays a supporting role, while there's black peppercorns and cloves as well. The citrus notes linger for a long time. Should work well in cocktails, but is surprisingly easy to drink with some ice and an orange wedge."
