Founded in 2019, Buzzard's Roost is an independent blender and bottler of sourced whiskeys. This Smoked Barrel Straight Rye expression is made from a sourced 4 year-old rye (95% rye 5% malted barley) which was double barreled into new, toasted American oak barrels which were gently smoked.
Bottled at 105 proof, it's available beginning February 2023. (SRP $70).

RyeRye produced in the US must be made of at least 51% rye and it must be aged in new, charred oak barrels (no age requirement). Elsewhere, it will be made according to the country of origin's rules regarding the recipe and minimum aging.

Tasting Notes
"The aroma brings forth pencil shavings, brown sugar, rye bread and toasted oak. The whiskey's taste leans bitter and feels a bit tight on the palate. The smoke comes through on the finish, but it doesn't overpower the rye. It's not really a cherry fruity rye, but more on the hearty, herbal rye whiskey side with a smoky finish. Overall it's fine, and maybe a little young. But perhaps not really extraordinary enough for the price point. "
