Calumet Farm 16 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon

Not sure fully feeling this one yet but bold/spicy for sure. Generally like spice but will see if I need to amend rating.

Pete moss, caramel, and nutz. Fire stuff no 🧢. Good at 4 fingers or a shot. Share it with the boys.

Vanilla spice caramel and oak on the nose. Palate has mouth feel that lingers. The rye definitely comes through on this with some dill and spice maybe some orange zest as well. Floral and woodsy flavors. Bought for Thanksgiving a little pricy for me one time purchase. Allowed it to breathe for 20 minutes and was very enjoyable.

Nose: vanilla, caramel, toffee, not too overpowering Taste: full bodied, toffee, slight metallic Finish: full bodied

It's not often I say I'm pleasantly surprised by a $150 bottle of bourbon. These have been fairy good but unspectacular in the past. The nose is the star here. Salty and sweet caramel and floral at the same time. The palate brings the salty caramel and adds cocoa bitters. The finish is the week link. Heat lingers but not much flavor impression, slightly piney. I'm not saying this is a top notch whiskey but it is better than it's predicessors.

Reminds me of an overpriced Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
