In an effort to modernize, the 122-year-old company Gordon & MacPhail overhauled all its ranges in April 2018. The Connoiseurs Choice was the first to receive a new design. One of the first new releases sporting this look, is a whisky from Islay distillery Caol Ila, that's 13-years-old and received a finish in an ex-Hermitage wine cask.

Tasting Notes

"Very meaty and barbecue-esque, like roasting a good piece of meat on a bonfire. There are aromas of orange blossom too, as well as a hint of raspberry. There's a bit of sulphur on the nose as well as the palate, which further showcases smoke and peat, and hints of strawberry. Overall, this is much more attractive to nose than to actually drink."
