Castle & Key Restoration Rye 2020 (Batch 2)

The new kids on the block. This distillery just released their first bourbon this spring. I like this rye, no surprises on the flavor. Just a standard, good, rye.

Bread, herbal, rye spice, wildflower honey. This is a big step up from batch 1 imo.

Bitter and kind of characterless on ice. Disappointed on this one.

Easy drinking smooth rye.

Still rye spicy but mellowed. Not the the typical burn of rye allowing some caramel normally seen in bourbon to show

The oily texture of this rye is very nice and inviting. The rye finish is forward and present and works nicely with citrus and sweetness on the front of the palate. Vanilla for days on the nose! I enjoy this offering from Castle and Key every time I sit down for a dram! Wonderful job Marianne Eaves! What a difference a year makes!
