Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye Distiller's Edition 92 Proof

Nose of vanilla, cinnamon, and dominant oak, palate of cinnamon, pepper, oak and vanilla, short sweet finish with a little bit of that typical rye spice

Fruity, spicy, with strong grain flavors. There's a flavor almost like maraschino cherry. There's a decent amount of burn. Not a ton of brown sugar or vanilla which are normally the first flavors I taste in whiskey, but it is sweet.

My favorite rye tasted to date. Spicy, with a bit of grain. Herbal nose. Lingering finish.

Nose - strong clove and other rye spice, cardamom, leather, tobacco, honey, lemon zest, moderate ethanol burn. Taste - very spice heavy, leather, tobacco, cardamom, moderate alcohol bite, finishing quickly with young ethanol and clove flavors. Surprisingly, I like this less than the standard 80 proof. It’s much spicier in a way that seems to accentuate the youthfulness.

Oiled leather on the nose. Leathery start but the finish is buttery smooth caramel.
