Color: Golden honey. Lighter than what I’d expect from double oak at 8 years.
Nose: Apples, black pepper, pear, light vanilla.
Taste: Light sweetness at first, still apples, almost a brandy-like mid palate, rye spice to finish.
Overall: If I had to guess I think this is a higher rye whiskey. It’s got a good profile despite it being proofed down. Due to price and lower proof, I’d say it loses some value points, but its still an enjoyable pour.
