Conecuh Ridge Distillery has released a new extension of its Clyde May's Alabama Style whiskey lineup. It's an eight year-old, cask-strength whiskey which has been aged in charred American oak barrels. The release was officially bottled at 117 proof, and hit shelves in October 2016 with a limited run of 3,000 bottles.
Flavored WhiskeyWhiskey flavored with natural or artificial flavors and labeled with the (pre)dominant flavor(s). Can be made either with or without the addition of sugar. Bottled at 30% ABV or higher.
Cask Typecharred American oak
"The nose is at first difficult to find behind the heat, then offers minty and herbal notes, and lighter oak, vanilla, and spice. A bit dry and astringent on the palate, with oak and spice blocking a background sweetness. Big flourish on the finish, with a tongue tingling spice and heat, and rich sweetness. Water softens the edge, but ice opens up fruitier notes of apples and orchard fruits, adding more life and character. Really need this one with ice, saving an otherwise somewhat flat whiskey. Score reflects the "with ice" taste."
