"The nose is at first difficult to find behind the heat, then offers minty and herbal notes, and lighter oak, vanilla, and spice. A bit dry and astringent on the palate, with oak and spice blocking a background sweetness. Big flourish on the finish, with a tongue tingling spice and heat, and rich sweetness. Water softens the edge, but ice opens up fruitier notes of apples and orchard fruits, adding more life and character. Really need this one with ice, saving an otherwise somewhat flat whiskey. Score reflects the "with ice" taste."
