Colkegan Single Malt Whiskey

I haven’t been a huge fan of other American single malt whiskies so I was not expecting to like this, but it’s actually pretty good! The nose is aggressive, but the taste is interesting but smooth. Notes of chocolate and floral with a little bit of spice. Definitely interested in having this again!

Not a huge fan of American takes on Scotch, but this is pretty good nonetheless. Very smoky on the nose, but not in a peaty way, much more of a BBQ way (thanks to the mesquite wood smoking). It’s spicy to taste initially, with some subtle honeyed notes worked in there, as well a hint of ash. Pretty complex and interesting and each sip builds on the next.

Flaviar Advent Calendar. Nose: smoke, vanilla, almond, flowers. Palate: mild sweetness, smoke, caramel, floral notes. It's a must for the collection

The combo of a US whiskey and the smoke threw me, but consider me all in on a mesquite smoked Scotch style whiskey.
