Ok, if you are a fan of the challenging flavors in peated Scotch, but want more than just smoke, this will be something for you to try. It is really interesting, complex, and tasty, like a peaty Scotch, but different too, I enjoyed the experience of trying to think through it nearly as much as the dram itself.
Nose - strong currants, almost wine like, some floral notes, light and sweet under the richness
Palette - rich and silky, some grain notes along with almonds and dark berries
Finish - lingering rounded sweetness, rich, slight spice at the edge of your tongue, light burn
Aroma is incredibly subdued with nothing much happening beyond some sweet smoke and a touch of fruit; Palate follows suite, but it’s missing that bit of earthiness from the aroma; Finish is quite nice, but shockingly short.
