The Damoiseau family produces spirits in the rhum agricole style using 100% first-pressed sugarcane juice grown at the Grand Terre estate. The Virgin Cane rum (rhum) is distilled just once to impart the true flavors of the cane juice, then the clear spirit is aged 6 months in stainless steel vats. Natural spring water is added to bring the spirit down to bottle proof.
Rhum Agricole BlancRhum distilled from fresh sugarcane juice. Has either been left alone to rest for 3 months, or if aged in oak, must not exceed 3 months in barrel. In Martinique, must be bottled between 80-110 proof.
"It's not often one can describe a cane product at "refreshing," but this is. It's fresh and earthy, with strong grassy and vegetal notes. It drinks almost like a grappa or brandy, with grape and tropical fruit accents, ending in a finish that's both sweet and tangy. Lime juice is definitely its friend."
