Del Maguey San Jose Rio Minas Mezcal
Mezcal Joven
Del Maguey // Oaxaca, Mexico
Ron Cooper, founder of Del Maguey, almost never made it out to San Jose Rio Minas, a tiny remote village located in the mountains in western Oaxaca. But an accidental meeting with a distiller from that village in a neighboring village who was out hunting cemented its place in their portfolio.
This mezcal is part of Del Maguey’s Vino de Mezcal series which features limited production mezcals that were hand-selected by Cooper. It is made from 100% espadín and is unaged.

Tasting Notes
"This is a very fruit-driven style of mezcal; pineapples jump out of the glass and right into your nose. White flowers, sheet rock, white pepper, and candied orange accented with the savoriness of smoked meats follow. These aromas follow suit on the palate along with melon, beeswax, and pine. This is a very lush and chewy mezcal."
