Bitter LiqueursMuch like amaro, bitter liqueurs are made from the maceration or distillation (or combination) of herbs, spices, roots, flowers, or other botanicals. Bitter liqueurs are often red or orange in color, although they needn’t be. Sugar is added before bottling. ABV varies widely.
Tasting Notes
"For those turned off by the bitterness of standard aperitivi, this would be an excellent option. It's predominantly citrusy, with aromas of orange blossom and sage, and sweet orangey flavors on the palate along with grapefruit, fresh alpine notes, forest floor earthiness, sweet spices and only a slight bitterness. This liqueur would be ideal in a spritz situation as a fresher tasting Aperol alternative, but for a Negroni, definitely choose gentler ingredients to support it as it is much fruitier and softer than the typical style.
