This gin was originally created by Dave Hughes and Scott Krahn as a school project while attending Cornell University. They have since opened their own microdistillery to produce this gin for sale. Six botanicals - juniper, lemon, orange, grapefruit, coriander and galangal - are macerated together with the base spirit. The spirit and botanicals go through a single distillation before being stored in steel containers for several months prior to bottling at 40% ABV.
London Dry GinNeutral spirit flavored with juniper and other botanicals. In the US, the minimum ABV is 40%; In the EU, it is 37.5%. Originally, only made in London, this can be made anywhere. No artificial flavors or colors can be added. Only water, neutral grain spirit, and sugar (no more than 0.1g/l) can be added.
"This smells and tastes as if it was born in field. Rich huckleberry aroma soon followed by bitter lemon and freshly picked chamomile. The taste of berries, lemon rind, and pine are all softened by refreshing ginger that lasts to the finish. There are gins that wear white gloves and put on a show; this one would rather take off its sandals and lie in the tall grass."
