District Made Straight Rye

A wonderful woody and spicy nose, the front end is light with wood and spice, and the spice lingers at the back.

Nose: pumpernickel bread from Outback with some floral notes Palate: pumpernickel bread from Outback Finish: feel more in roof of my mouth and back of throat, warm and not overwhelming Overall: like this rye and will definitely look for it when I’m in the DC area again.

Spicy on the front end, fruit finish

This tastes more mature, and therefore more complex, than it “should” for a ~2 year old. Nicely balanced between spicy, sweet, and leggy/rich; the short finish actually sends you in eagerly for the next sip — and it gets better the more one sips away. The malty milky chocolate notes and a light brown sugar trace are present in both the nose and the taste, pleasantly tying everything together; it’s *just* sweet enough. I could drink or mix quite a bit of this, and I’m not a huge rye fan.

Nothing special, grassy, smooth, a great sipper. Would give this to someone who has never had rye before. Great base
