Edinburgh Seaside Gin
Edinburgh // Scotland
Edinburgh Gin co-founder Alex Nicol wanted to create a gin that would celebrate the native botanicals of Scotland. On a quest to find unique Scottish botanicals, master distiller David Wilkinson began to look along the east coast of Scotland for inspiration. Originally a limited edition product that was recently made part of the distillery's core range, Edinburgh Seaside Gin is made with traditional gin botanicals, including grains of paradise, coriander, and cardamom, along with foraged Scottish botanicals, such as scurvy grass, ground ivy and bladderwrack. Following distillation, this gin is bottled at 43% ABV.
Distilled GinThis style of gin takes a neutral spirit and then adds juniper berries and other natural flavorings before it is re-distilled. After distillation, additional flavors (artificial or natural) and sweeteners may be added.
"This is a gin with the volume turned way down. Touches of cardamom and citrus present, but you've got to really try to find it. That said, the gin is clean and gentle, so if you chose to make a tonic, chose a delicate one like Fever Tree Mediterranean. Or serve simply in an extra dry martini."
