El Tesoro uses 100% estate-grown agave harvested from Los Altos (Highlands) in Jalisco for its tequila production. After cooking for three days, these agaves are then crushed using a two-ton stone tahona. After distillation, the añejo tequila ages for 2-3 years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. It is bottled at 80 proof. Note: Packaging update in April 2018 for the three main marques in the portfolio.

Distilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is aged for at least a year in barrels not to exceed 600 liters. Any type of wood is acceptable, but ex-bourbon barrels are most common. Añejo tequilas are also known as "aged" or "extra aged".

Tasting Notes

"Cooked agave aroma dominates the nose while the barrel aromas like cinnamon, vanilla, and chocolate are mixed in. If you've had the reposado, this one is a little softer and slightly more sweet. A lovely sipping tequila to have in place of dessert. Although, if you want to add this tequila to your Mexican hot chocolate, that would also be acceptable."
