Elements Eight Gold Rum
Gold Rum
Elements Eight // Saint Lucia
London-based Elements Eight Rum Company is a private label brand sourcing their rum from St. Lucia Distillers, the same distillery behind Chairman’s Reserve and Admiral Rodney. The gold rum is a blend of ten rums made from Guyanese molasses.
Some of the constituent rums are pot-stilled, the remaining are column-stilled. Although there’s no official age statement, the company’s web site claims six years of tropical aging. The Elements Eight lineup also includes silver, spiced, and cacao-flavored rums.

Tasting Notes
"The nose is strong and funky, with overripe banana, apple, and just a tiny hint of sulphur, a hallmark of St. Lucia rums. The initial palate is surprisingly dry, light, and fruity--quite different from what the nose suggests. Midway through, it turns toward oiliness, earthiness, pepper, and wet cardboard. It finishes long with hints of prune and copper. An unsweetened rum that aficionados will enjoy sipping, but its delicate flavors may get lost in citrus-flavored cocktails. "
