Familia Camarena Añejo Tequila
Familia Camarena // Jalisco, Mexico
Familia Camarena Añejo is a 100% blue agave tequila distilled by the Camarena family who have been planting and harvesting agave in the Jalisco Highlands (Los Altos) since 1860. The piñas are slow roasted in traditional stone ovens for several days before the juices are fermented and distilled. The Añejo aged for a year in repurposed bourbon barrels.
Tequila AñejoDistilled from 100% blue Weber agave, it is aged for at least a year in barrels not to exceed 600 liters. Any type of wood is acceptable, but ex-bourbon barrels are most common. Añejo tequilas are also known as "aged" or "extra aged".

"Vegetal and vinyl notes reminiscent of mezcal as much as tequila, with straightforward and simple tastes of vanilla, cola and brown sugar with a bit more bitterness than appropriate. Oak more than agave influence here."
