Fidencio Madrecuixe Mezcal
Mezcal Joven
Fidencio // Oaxaca, Mexico
Looking at a Madrecuixe agave plant, it might come as a surprise that's it's even a maguey. Tall and slender, once the blades are cut the piña resembles a short palm tree trunk instead of the hallmark pineapple. The yields are also quite low but fortunately the spirit it produces can be nothing short of fascinating.
Fidencio’s Madrecuixe is pit-roasted for 5 days before double-distillation. It is unaged and bottled at 98.8 proof.

Tasting Notes
"This is all about citrus and herbs. It is earthy and rustic and at times challenging… but in a good way! Medium-bodied and mildly smoky is the first impression you’ll get. The aroma is bright and full of lime, ash, lemon zest, and eucalyptus while the palate is dominated by more eucalyptus, saline, black pepper and pine."
