Reviewed October 21, 2024 (edited October 24, 2024)Rating: 4.12/5 The bottle I'm reviewing is a barrel pick from Mammoth Liquors in KY. Tier 1. 10yr, 2mo. 107.4 proof. Bottled May of 2023. Nose: Red berry compote, blue berry, cedar, slight pine/evergreen, caramel, vanilla, brown sugar. Palate: Warm strawberry, cherry, brown sugar, caramel, vanilla. A lot of notes from the nose carry through to the palate. There is a light amount of rye spice as well. Finish: Red fruit, light oak, cinnamon, rye spice. Medium finish with a solid mouthfeel. Overall: Very fruit forward from the nose to the finish, with a subtle amount of oak and spice to make it a very well balanced drinking experience. There's not a whole lot about this bottle that I can fault, except that the mouthfeel/viscosity is just okay. I really enjoy this specific barrel pick and always have my eye out for OESO picks. -

Reviewed October 19, 2024 (edited October 20, 2024)Thick legs. Nose is piney, but brings cotton candy and a hint of pit fruit. The piney nose comes through on the palate, but much more in the background. Dark chocolate and cherries play a prominent role. Sweetness coats the tongue. Very light pepper. Chocolate lingers through the finish. -

Reviewed November 22, 2023Immediately gives a hit of grape nerds when you nose it, and then gives a sweet profile that’s similar to 1792 Full Proof. Sugary, candy sweetness remains throughout, and the dark fruits linger on the finish. Delightful pour. -
