Four Roses Small Batch Select Bourbon

Nose of apple, oak, toast, vanilla, toffee, cinnamon, leather, cherry, mint and pistachios. Moderately spicy on the palate with vanilla, cinnamon, cherry, cocoa and oak. Quite nice.

Tasty. Spicy/alcohol aftertaste.

Starts sweet, the first sips finish rough, burning licorice. Halfway through the pour with the tongue settled in, it’s mellow and butterscotch.

Medium spice. Smells at the end like chocolate but starts with apple. Taste the spice but get some vanilla and toasted caramel. Hunting for more but that medium spice is at the moment overwhelming

Nose is rich, with sweet vanilla, baking spices, chocolate and a hit of berry. Taste is oaky, leathery, some butter/caramel but that is overshadowed by the astringent ethanol (neat in a glencairn)
