Dark chocolate. Maple syrup. Brown sugar. Marzipan. Cherries. Dark fruit. And sweet tobacco leaves. Outstanding.🏆 (SA)

Prunes, raisin, berry, woody, chocolate, wonderful long sweet finish.

Nose is unobtrusive with some notes of dried fruit and chocolate. I get strong notes of tobacco throughout but especially on the back end. Doesn't sound especially appealing but it grew on me quickly.

If you like sherry casks, you’ll love the PX and oloroso influences here. It’s got dark fruits, raisins, and Christmas cake on the nose. It’s got a luscious creamy mouthfeel and all of those Christmas cake notes alongside dark chocolate and hazelnuts. The finish with tenacious tannins and a nuttiness that lingers for a well -rounded dram. It’s not overly complex to my very amateur palate, but it excels in all the ways one would hope an older sherry-influenced dram would. It is the whiskey that made me love whiskey years ago, and I will keep it as a top malt on my shelf to revisit past moments with friends. Not to be missed! BTW: my taste was the 2019 bottling

Beautiful brown caramel in color. First whiff is full of butter and very soon the sherry appears, intense. Sherry is not though overpowering. After 10 minutes, the esters make an appearance. Definitely sweet orange, not peel. Great body on palette. Sticks in mouth, and long. Surprisingly, flavor is dominated by an orange sucking candy that sits in perfect balance with the sherry and woodsy vanilla. Chocolate appears at back and some mild white pepper. Very long.

Fig, raisins, cherry, very smooth, rich. Feels luxurious. Syrupy almost but not cloying. The sherry wood presence is there and has character but doesn’t overpower either. Truly one for special occasions. Smoother than the Allardice, which was also good but more velvety texture. May be worth the extra $$$ (and Allardice is also very good)
