Glenglassaugh first opened in 1875 in the Sardend Bay overlooking the North Sea. In 2013 it was purchased by Billy Walker and the BenRiach Whisky Company. Torfa (the Old Norse word for "peat") is one of the premier releases of the new guard. Non-chill filtered.
Peated Single Malt100% malted barley from a single distillery. Dried with peat.
"This is on the the sweeter end of the peat spectrum, though somewhat light in weight. There's a pleasant smoked meat flavor (like beef jerky), with pipe tobacco, charcoal, bitter chocolate, salt and seaweed. It's a fun sip, and if you close your eyes, you're standing at the edge of the sea as a yummy BBQ dinner cooks in the near distance. Really gets the palate working! Finishes just a tad hot."
