Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate 15 Year (Batch #2)

Nose: vinegar, abrupt/harsh - rubbing alcohol (2.5) Front: barley, wine-y (3) Middle: solvent, paint remover (3.5) Back: solvent, wanted to be floral but couldn’t (3) Went for cheese early

It’s fine for something that’s only oak casks. I think it lacks character and complexity, but it’s fine for what it is. It’s a little more hot than I would have expected at 43%.

Nose is sweet vanilla, cinnamon and baking spices. Once it rests, stone fruits start to come through. The nose is more rounded than typical Glenmorangie The palate stays true to the baking spices especially nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. There’s some sweet short bread, caramel and brown sugar as well The finish was surprisingly long and creamy with an oily almost buttery mouth feel at the end To me this was a departure from Glenmorangie’s signature notes and brightness. The age even seems longer than the stated 15 years. Reminds me of a well aged Irish whisky but with a more potent finish!

Very good mixture of spicy seeds , berries and chocolate on the nose. A superb mixture of minerals and sea rocks on the palate. GreAt finish.
