Grand Marnier

Lots of orange! Use it my "maple syrup" drink

I am not a fervent liqueur drinker, but Grand Marnier is an all time favourite, though. Very nice, warm and fruity liqueur, great if combined with a cup of coffee or tea, after dinner or as a nightcap. Explosion of citrus fruit when entering the mouth, lots of zest and bitterness from meditteranean oranges and tangerines. Then soft, sweet, almost toffee-like. Strong afterfinish, doesn't linger, which makes it exceptionally nice aside of your mug of coffee. Also absolutely the best liqueur to flambé amarena cherries or other canned fruits, great to combine with pancakes and ice cream.

Probably my favourite liqueur/spirit/alcoholic beverage of all. Compares to nothing else. Or rather nothing else compares to GM. It’s a fragrant explosion of sweet orange and spice to the nose. Can’t even describe the other scents. And in the mouth: orange zest, maybe a hint of caramel, and I’m not even sure what else, but that tingling numbing warmth that spreads across the tongue and then to the back of the mouth - no other spirit I’ve ever had has a similar effect. So much smoother than other cognacs I’ve tried. The ultimate digestif, or a beautiful way to end the evening.
