Hellyers Road Henry's Legacy Saint Valentines Peak Single Malt
Single Malt
Hellyers Road // Tasmania, Australia
A limited release by Hellyers Road, the Saint Valentines Peak bottling bears no age statement, but some easy counting gives this whisky an age of 11 years. The name comes from the spiritual owner of Hellyers Road, Henry Hellyer, with all the limited releases named after a landmark discovered on his long treks; this time, Saint Valentines Peak.
This is an ex-port cask matured whisky, bottled at cask strength, with only 480 bottles released. Note: This is sold in 500ml sized bottles and not currently available in the US.

Tasting Notes
"A powerful wave of rich Christmas cake dripping with spices enraptures the nose, with orange rind and citrus notes following. This is backed again by a mixture of acetone, allspice, cardamom, cloves and sweet yet intensely dry new-wood resin. On the tongue, the Christmas cake is so dry that it crumbles to pieces on the tongue, erupting into sultanas, apricots, oranges, and a spice implosion. A somewhat herbal brine follows, with the finish being long and intense, so dry it evaporates almost immediately, crawling through the entire mouth and sinuses, tracking cardamom and allspice in its wake.
