I consider Elijah Craig as a prototypical example of Bourbon, and a kind of a base in my mind from which other bourbons vary in different ways. This fellow distillery-mate shares a lot of similarity, especially on the front end. I do get a little sour orange on the nose with this one, and more peanut on the palate, but where this really varies from the EC profile is on the finish, which carries quite a lot of tannic oak. I don't know if this bottle is typical for this release, but the oak presence somewhat overpowers the other elements for me. I think this is good to very good, but falls short of great.
