High River Canadian Whisky
Sazerac // Canada
Drew Mayville is well known as the master blender for Buffalo Trace’s collection of award winning whiskies. However, as the fourth and final master blender for the Seagram’s dynasty, he has a passion for blending Canadian whisky that includes this 2017 Sazerac release. The name pays tribute to the Canadian prairie rye grain farmed along mineral rich rivers that are prone to flooding. This whisky is currently exclusive to Canada.
CanadianDISTILLED IN CANADA AND AGED IN BARRELS FOR AT LEAST THREE YEARS; OFTEN (BUT NOT ALWAYS) CANADIAN WHISKIES ARE BLENDS OF CORN, BARLEY, AND RYE WHISKIES WHICH WERE DISTILLED AND MATURED SEPARATELY. TRADITIONALLY, CANADIAN WHISKEY IS CALLED “RYE”, ALTHOUGH NO MINIMUM PERCENTAGE OF RYE-GRAIN WHISKY IS REQUIRED IN A BLEND.
"A blast of cherry-heavy stone fruits transition to maple sugar aromas that slowly develop like a Polaroid picture where orange, butterscotch and hot peppery spice pulls into focus. Caramel sweetness commands the front palate with some pepper oak spice and pine. Herbal dill blends with orange pith on the pleasant finish. Assertive yet delicate like an athlete who can write poetry."
