Jack Daniel's Tennessee Straight Rye

This is a very approachable rye. With vanilla and almost maple in the nose with the rye spice. Before you get air on the tongue its all vanilla and caramel. Then the rye come sin as your taste buds hit the air. The taste doesn't burn but it does bring some spice in the end. Like a dark sweet rye bread. I get light mint but less than many ryes.

Lots of spice, vanilla and bannana on nose. Cherry mint, vanilla on the taste with some rye spice but lighter than most rye, then closes with burnt sugar sweetness, bannana and a little minty greens then bits of banana, coming through again at the end that fades from real banana to almost banana runts. Tastes like a thin high rye bourbon almost.

Chilled. Skills. Oak. Spicy. Warm AF finish.

Noticeably different than other ryes but enjoyable. Assuming this is the Tennessee/charcoal filtration process. You don’t get as much of the complex flavors up front but the maple finish is there. Some cherry too. Smooth initially, late alcohol burn.

Nose: vanilla. Sweet. Some oak/smoke. Chilled: spicy. Sweet vanilla and brown sugar. Warm oaky/Smokey finish. High alcohol finish. Grain like aftertaste.

Nose- an unlikely mix of banana, mint, and rye spice. It smells like it is going to be a pretty thin whiskey, similar to regular jack Daniels. Taste- definitely has notes of jack Daniels no 57. I can taste the familiar banana note for sure. But what is more prominent in it is rye spice, mint, and for sure a sweet note I can’t really pick out. It’s one of the sweeter high-rye whiskeys I’ve had for sure. It is definitely pretty thin though. Follow through- there’s not a ton of follow through on this, but after drinking a few sips it does coat the younger fairly well. It’s one of those whiskeys where it kind of burns going down. Overall, I don’t love it, but I would drink it if it was the only thing there. I don’t think it’s a great offering as a rye. The only redeeming quality about it is the strange combination of mint, rye spice, and banana. Probably wouldn’t buy a whole bottle of this, but it was nice to try
