Nose- an unlikely mix of banana, mint, and rye spice. It smells like it is going to be a pretty thin whiskey, similar to regular jack Daniels.
Taste- definitely has notes of jack Daniels no 57. I can taste the familiar banana note for sure. But what is more prominent in it is rye spice, mint, and for sure a sweet note I can’t really pick out. It’s one of the sweeter high-rye whiskeys I’ve had for sure. It is definitely pretty thin though.
Follow through- there’s not a ton of follow through on this, but after drinking a few sips it does coat the younger fairly well. It’s one of those whiskeys where it kind of burns going down.
Overall, I don’t love it, but I would drink it if it was the only thing there. I don’t think it’s a great offering as a rye. The only redeeming quality about it is the strange combination of mint, rye spice, and banana. Probably wouldn’t buy a whole bottle of this, but it was nice to try
